K. Murgor was born on 15th August 1963 to Mr. and Mrs.
Mathew Guy Muli. Her father the late Justice Mathew Guy
Muli, a distinguished Kenyan jurist served as Legal
Counsel to the East African Community, Judge of the High
Court, Judge of the Court of Appeal, Attorney General of
the Republic of Kenya and finally retired to private
practice, before his passing in 2004.
Greatly inspired by her father, she joined the
University of Buckingham to study law obtaining her
honours law degree in 1987 after only two years of
study. She pupiled at the firm of Hamilton Harrison and
Mathews and was admitted to the Roll of Advocates in
She began her professional career in the same firm as a
legal assistant in the Commercial Department.
Thereafter, in search of
experience in major commercial law practice,
she opted to join the public service where she served as a State Counsel
in the Attorney General’s Chambers in the Treaties and Agreements
Department. During her time in the public service she represented and
advised the government in numerous significant bilateral and multilateral
1990, she married Philip K. Murgor then a State Counsel in the Public
Prosecutions Department of the State Law Office. Two years later, the
two resigned and established Murgor & Murgor Advocates.
In May 2003, after
Philip’s appointment as Kenya’s Director of Public Prosecutions,
Agnes took over a two year brief to represent the Central Bank of Kenya
in the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the Goldenberg Affair. Her
exemplary handling of the brief, earned her recognition by a leading daily
newspaper as one of Kenya’s top ten lawyers.
In July 2007, Agnes
took up an appointment with East African Breweries Limited as Legal
Counsel and Group Company Secretary. She is an Advocate of the High Court
of Kenya and a Member of the Law Society of Kenya and the Institute of
Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya. She has an LLB Degree from
University of Buckingham, a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law
and is currently pursuing a masterís degree in International Business
Law through the University of London.
